This week Barbados has been hosting the 11th Caribbean Labour Ministers Meeting, and they were joined by Director General of the International Labour Organisation Guy Ryder.

The Caribbean will have to rethink its approach to the labour market as it seeks to rebuild ailing economies.

This was one of the issues discussed at the just ended meeting of Caribbean Labour Ministers.

Director General of the International Labour Organization, Guy Ryder, says the changing trends can no longer be ignored.

Another area that needs to be examined, Ryder says, is the mismatch between skills and the actual needs of the labour market.

He noted that the controversial issue of migration will have to be addressed if the Caribbean is to meet its labour needs.
